A content sigh escaped Valendra's lips as she walked down the stairs. "Taking a shower in the morning is the best~" She mumbled to herself before heading to the kitchen, expecting Naira to be there. But when she arrived there the teenager was nowhere to be seen. The demon cocked up an eyebrow as she looked around the room. "Naira?" No answer. The demon frowned as she noticed the cup of tea and toast on the table. She was probably going to eat her breakfast…but where is she now? Suddenly Valendra heard a soft giggle and looked startled up. Nobody was there, but the demon noticed that the kitchen door was slightly standing open. Quickly the girl went outside and looked surprised at the scene in front of her. Naira was kneeling down on the ground and petting something that looked like a white fur ball. A cat? Lovingly the teenager ran her slender fingers through the cat's fur. The animal purred in delight, rubbing its head against Naira's hand, which made the teenager giggle.

Suddenly Naira froze in her spot, it look she even stopped breathing for a moment…then slowly she turned her head to look at Valendra and now it was the demons turn to freeze in her spot. There was only one thought going through her mind. That's not Naira… The human saw the demon's startled expression and cutely smiled. Naira's eyes seemed bigger, vivid and dared she say younger? Valendra had the feeling an innocent child was looking at her…and that smile… Naira giggled and kept on smiling. Then suddenly her expression changed. Her eyes grew more serious, duller and her smile disappeared. The cat, which was playful before, now suddenly hissed, baring its teeth at the human before running away. Valendra blinked comically her eyes as she looked at the scene, she was confused as hell by now. Naira, who looked like she had just woken up from a dream, looked surprised around for a moment, before getting up and dusting off her clothes. "Come on Valendra, we have to go or else we're going to be late." She softly said while passing by the demon. Valendra watched the human walk away with furrowed eyebrows. So there's more of them inside that body…

~~~
"Oh my God, Sandy! I can't believe this, your sister is a real cutie!" Sandy McLain grinned as she wrapped an arm around her little sister. "Well duh, she's my precious baby sister after all!" The school queen and her sibling were surrounded by dozens of girls, making the younger McLain feel very uncomfortable. "Hey, what's your name?" The girl opened her mouth, wanting to answer the question, but was interrupted by her sister. "Her name's Wendy. She's a freshman so be nice to her ok." The fangirls all nodded and squealed.. A soft sigh escaped Wendy's lips as she looked away, trying to avoid all those staring eyes.  She hated this, she hated it when her sister used her to get attention, she hated it when her sister spoke in her name and she hated this school already! Wendy knew she'd never be able to make friends, because her sister was here. Those who'd try to befriend her would only have one reason: because she was Sandy's little sister. They wouldn't be real friends, just phonies…  Oh dad, why did you force me to come to this school…I already don't like it here.
Suddenly the girl noticed two figures walking through the school gate. It was an odd looking duo. One of them was really skinny, had a baby face and purple hair. The other was small and slender with greenish blue hair. Wendy didn't know why, but a chill ran down her spine as she watched those two. There was something about them that made the girl nervous, it was a feeling, call it an instinct…and then suddenly the green haired one turned her head in her direction…and looked right into her eyes! Wendy held her breath as she stared into those golden eyes, there was something about them, something mysterious. Then the girl looked back in front of her and continued walking with her companion. "Hey Wendy, Wendy…hey airhead!" Surprised the younger McLain looked up at her sister, she hadn't noticed her calling at all. Sandy frowned as she looked down at her sibling. "What were you looking at?" She asked as she followed Wendy's gaze…then her eyes widened for a moment before they dangerously narrowed. "Ugh, it's that loser." Faith and Hope turned their heads and glared at their sworn enemy. "Ugh it’s Takemaru and who's that little creep next to her? I've never seen her before." Sandy huffed and cocked up her head. "A freshman I guess." The blond looked down at her sister with a stern look. "Listen Wendy, that girl over there is the biggest loser of the school. She's a wild animal and dangerous, stay away from her." Hope nodded her head as she looked at the girl. "Sandy's right! She actually attacked your sister not long ago!" Wendy's eyes widened in surprise as she looked at the green-haired girl, who was slowly disappearing from sight. No way!…She doesn't look dangerous…more sad actually…very sad and lonely…
~~~

Naira was sitting at her desk by the window, looking outside at the cloudy sky. Valendra sighed as she sat down on the teenager's desk. "Ugh I'm already bored to death. Just how do you survive this every day?" A small smile spread on Naira's lips as she looked up at the demon. "Oh my and school hasn't even started yet." The demon huffed and rolled her eyes before looking outside the window. "Jeez I can't even imagine what it'll be like once it starts." Naira chuckled as she looked at the girl. "You know…it's strange to see you wearing a uniform."

"Ugh shut up, do you really need to remind me of that. I hate this outfit, I feel like a monkey." A small smirk spread on the teenager's lips as she held back a comment. Well you are a monkey. The teenager's gaze drifted to the big skull hair pin in the girl's hair. It seemed the demon had grown attached to it and refused to take it off. It really doesn't fit with the uniform. And yet Naira couldn't help, but to find it charming. Valendra was unique among all those dull students, who all looked the same, including herself. Slowly the classroom started to fill up with students, breaking the pleasant silence from before. The girls constantly looked at Naira and Valendra and whispered things to another…and it was pissing the little demon off. With a rather nasty look she glared at the students, startling those poor girls. "Make a picture if you like my face so much. Now, stop staring goddamned!" Startled the girls immediately looked away and stopped gossiping. Naira couldn't help but to smirk, this girl was so rude…and so funny at the same time.

A few minutes later the teacher walked into the room, along with a student. Naira cocked up an eyebrow as she looked at the girl. She didn't know her, yet she had seen her before. But where? "Good morning everyone. I have some good news, we have two new students. Well the first one is the young lady next to me." The man said while pointing to the blond. Shyly the girl smiled at the students and weakly waved her hand. "Good morning, my name is Wendy McLain and from now on I'll be your classmate. Please take care of me." The students all got excited and started talking to another. Naira stared at the girl, trying to figure out where she had seen her before. Oh wait, she was the one standing next to Sandy…wait a second?! McLain?! Wendy McLain?! Could she be related to that wench? Naira didn't have much time to think about it though, since the teacher continued with his announcement. "And as for the other student…well I can't seem to find he-"

"I'm over here." A voice suddenly interrupted him. Surprised everybody turned around and looked at Valendra, who was still sitting on top of Naira's desk. "Ah there you are, I have been looking for you…It is customary for the new students to first come and greet all the teachers before being introduced to the classmates." Valendra just stared at the man with an almost mocking expression. "Nobody told me so it's not my fault, sir." The man blinked his eyes as he looked startled at the demon. "I see…well, since you're already here you can introduce yourself."  Valendra shrugged and turned her head towards her fellow students. She didn't even get off the desk and talked with an obviously uninterested tone. "I'm Valendra Lucefiana and I'm your classmate from now on." Naira felt like disappearing. She is the worst! The girls were certainly not charmed by the girl's behaviour and looked disapproving at her.

The teacher, who felt the tension rising, cleared his throat to attract everybody's attention. "Well then, it's time to start. Miss Lucefiana please sit down at your own desk. Miss McLain, sit down wherever you like and then we'll start with today's lesson." Valendra casually got up and sat down at the desk behind Naira's. Wendy sat down at the desk next to Naira and started unpacking her bag. The girls, who had been casting nasty glares at the demon, turned towards the blackboard and took their books out of their bag. Naira sighed in relief, glad that all those staring eyes were not fixated on her and the demon anymore. She pulled her notebook out and started taking notes. But as she was writing she felt somebody was watching her. Subtly the girl looked around, till her golden embers met turquoise ones. The new girl, Wendy McLain was looking at her. Naira knew it was silly, but she couldn't shake off the feeling, that this girl looked through her eyes…and right into her soul.

~~~
"I know I keep repeating myself, but this school of yours is boooooriiiing." Naira chuckled and sat down on the floor as she pulled an apple out of her bag. "I think you've said the words 'bored and boring' a million times today." Valendra grumbled and plumped down next to the teenager. "Not my fault." The demon cocked up an eyebrow as she watched the green haired girl with a frown. "Is that your lunch? Just an apple? You didn't eat breakfast this morning either." Surprised Naira looked up at the demon. Is she worried about me?
"Like you're one to talk. You didn't bring anything to eat, except candy." The demon snickered as she happily pulled her bag of candy out of her schoolbag. "Hm but that's because I don't actually need food. We demons don't eat human food after all. I eat candy just because I like it, but I actually don't need it." Naira's gaze drifted from the girl to the apple in her hand. Oh right, demons eat souls…and since Valendra is a demon so does she. Naira subtly glanced at the demon as she took a bite from her fruit. She looks so human that I sometimes forget what she really is.
"Hey… can I have some too?" Naira asked as she looked at Valendra's candy. The demon frowned and possessively held the bag against her chest. "Uh how about no. It's my candy!" Naira rolled her eyes at the girls selfish behaviour and grumbled. "You bought that candy with my money you know." The demon huffed and cocked up her head. "This is my reward for protecting your ass 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Be grateful you ungrateful little human!" Naira sighed and rubbed her forehead. She decided it would be best to act mature and let the selfish little being be. So she kept quiet and took another bite from her apple.
As the girls were eating in silence a sudden creak made them look up. The heavy metal door of the rooftop opened and revealed a small figure. "Ah I'm sorry, I didn't know somebody was here…mind if I join you?" Naira narrowed her eyes as she looked at Wendy McLain. Is she following me or something? The teenager ignored the blond and took another bite from her fruit. Whatever, Valendra will chase her away anyway. The purple haired girl stared at the younger McLain, her expression was neutral and didn't betray a single thought. "Sure." Wendy's face lit up as she walked over to them. "Thanks!" She happily said as she plumped down next to the demon. Naira nearly spit out her piece of apple and looked startled at her bodyguard. What?! Wendy smiled at the two and pulled her sandwich out of her bag. "Ah I'm sorry I  haven't introduced myself yet. I'm Wendy Mc-"
"We know who you are." Naira interrupted as she took the last bite from her apple. Surprised the blond blinked her eyes as she looked at the green haired girl. Valendra frowned at Naira for a moment before looking at the blond. "I'm Valendra, but you can call me Val." Naira's mouth fell wide open as she turned her head towards the demon. She never lets me call her that! A bright and rather cute smile spread on Wendy's  lips as she looked at the demon. "Ah nice to meet you! Well you can call me…well Wendy I guess." Valendra blinked comically her eyes as her cheeks slightly heated up. This didn't go unnoticed by Naira.
Wendy suddenly noticed the bag of candy and softly gasped. "Oh candy!" Valendra silently looked at the human for a moment, before holding the bag out to the blond. "Want some…?" The young McLain happily smiled. "Really? Thank you!" She said as she held her hand out so that the demon could pour some candy in it. Again Naira's jaw dropped a few inches. What?! When I ask for candy I get scolded, but this total stranger immediately gets some?! Naira couldn't help it, but she got more agitated by the minute.
The blond ate her candy before looking at the green haired girl with a kind smile. "You're Naira aren't you?" The teenager turned her head towards the blond and narrowed her eyes. "Yeah… I bet Sandy told you that." The young McLain blinked surprised her eyes, the annoyance and suspicion in Naira's voice didn't go unnoticed. "Ah, yes my sister told me your name…" Naira narrowed her eyes even more as she looked at the girl. Great, she's that wench's little sister. "Why are you here? You do know me and your sister don't get along do you?… Look if this is some kind of plan to pay me back for a few days ago, then tell your darling big sister it's not going to work." Wendy's eyes widened for a moment before she defensively held her hands up, with the palms towards the teenager, and shook her head. "Ah no you're mistaken. This has nothing to do with my sister. I came here by my own free will…"
Naira cocked up an eyebrow as she stared at the blond. "What? But why? Don't you want to hang out with Sandy and her friends?" Wendy looked down at the ground, her blue-green eyes slightly saddened. "No, I want friends of my own and if I hang out with Sandy then that's impossible." The stern look on Naira's face disappeared, when she noticed the different tone in the blond's voice. She sounded tired and even… sad? "You don't get along with Sandy?" Wendy looked up and smiled a small sad smile. "Don't get me wrong, Sandy's my big sister and I love her, but she can be so…bossy. She always tells me what to do, what to wear and who to hang out with. Of course I don't listen to her, I have my own life after all, but she doesn't seem to understand…or rather she doesn't want to…" Naira immediately felt guilty about her earlier bad behaviour. It must be tough to live with a drama queen such as Sandy…
The girl rubbed the back of her head and bit her lip. "Uhm, Wendy I'm sorry for my rude behaviour…I really thought you and Sandy were scheming something. So uhm…sorry." Wendy smiled and shook her head.  "It's ok, I can't exactly blame you…you and my sister really don't get along do you?" Valedra, who had been silent the whole time, suddenly huffed at the blond's comment. "Not very surprising. Your sweet sister bullies her all the time, at least that's what Naira told me." The blond's eyes widened as she looked at the teenager. "Is that true?" Naira looked away and sighed. "I don't want to talk about it."
"Oh…" Wendy stared at her lap for a moment before taking a bite from her sandwich. The three girls talked for a while, but soon enough the bell rang and it was time to go back. The trio got up, left the rooftop and returned to their classroom. Or at least two of them…Suddenly Valendra stopped in her tracks, which made the other two stop as well. "Valendra, what's wrong?"
"I forgot something on the rooftop. You two go ahead, I'll be right back." The demon said before turning around and running away. Wendy and Naira looked surprised at each other, confused by the girl's strange behaviour. "Anyway let's go back before we arrive too late." Naira nodded and went back to the classroom. The both of them sat down at their desk and waited for the demon girl to return. They didn't have to wait long though. Only a minute after them the girl walked back into the class room. "Back already?" Naira asked as she looked at the demon. Valendra nodded and sat down at her desk, her expression was mysterious and somehow made Naira feel nervous. What is she up to? "Say where is that thing you forgot on the roofto-" Suddenly a loud scream could be heard, only to be followed by a few more screams. All the students looked surprised up.
"What was that?!"
"It came from the other side of the hallway!"
"Come on! Let's go and have a look!"
Everybody got up and left the room. Wendy glanced at Naira and Valendra with a worried expression. "Perhaps we should go as well." Naira nodded and quickly got up. As the three arrived at the classroom, where the screams came from, a surprise was awaiting them. "Who did this?! Which bitch did this to me?!!!" A high pitched voice angrily exclaimed. As the girls got closer they finally saw what was going on. Wendy gasped and ran over to the person, who was yelling. "Sister! What happened to you?!" Sandy McLain was soaked to the bone…and pissed…very pissed. "I just opened the freaking door and was suddenly showered with water!! Some bitch put this bucket of water on top of the door!" She yelled as she kicked the now empty bucket on the floor. "If I find the wench who did this to me! I'll strangle her!!!" Naira comically blinked her eyes and was surprised as hell, when Sandy suddenly turned her head towards her. The blond's eyes dangerously narrowed. "Takemaru! It was you wasn't it?!!" She angrily yelled as she grabbed the teenager by her collar. Naira was about to say something, when Wendy suddenly grabbed her sister's arm and pulled it away.  "No that's not true! Naira was with me the entire time so it can't be her!" Sandy looked at her sister for a moment, grumbled and pulled her arm away before leaving the classroom. "Just you wait! I WILL find out who did this!" The dozens of worried and shocked fangirls followed their queen, leaving Naira, Wendy and Valendra behind. The green haired one sighed and looked at the two others, wanting to say something… when she suddenly noticed the mysterious grin on Valendra's lips. I think I know who did it…
~~~

Three hours later the bell rang, school was over and thus the students all grabbed their belongings, before leaving the building. So did the new trio. Naira, Valendra and Wendy  walked up to the gate, when the blond suddenly stopped in her tracks. "You guys go ahead, I have to wait for Sandy…" Naira nodded her head and Valendra cocked up her head with a huff, when hearing that name. "Oh and by the way, thanks for the candy Val. I'll make sure to give you some in return tomorrow." The demon turned her head away, trying to hide her slightly flushed cheeks. It didn't go unnoticed by Naira though. "Whatever, you don't need to do something in return…well see you tomorrow!" The girl said as she turned to look at the blond with a smirk, before walking away. "Oi Takemaru, we're leaving." Naira sighed before looking at her new friend with a small smile. "Well see you tomorrow I guess."

Because she was in a hurry, since Val was leaving, she didn't wait for the blond's response and ran after her friend. "Oh! Bye Naira!" The green haired girl turned her head as she was running and was about to say goodbye… when she suddenly noticed something. She froze in her spot and stared at the blond or at least it looked like that. Wendy, who thought her friend was looking at her smiled and waved. Naira forced a smile on her face and waved back. "Oi Takemaru! What's taking you so long?!" Startled the teenager turned her head to look at the demon. "I'm coming, I'm coming!" She looked one last time back, but noticed that, what she had been looking at, had disappeared. Valendra noticed that the human was staring and walked back over to her. "Did you see something?" Naira looked up at her friend as she heard her voice and shook her head. "No, nothing." I thought I saw a man standing behind Wendy…a man with wings…

~~~
Sometime later the duo was on their way home, walking through the park. Both of them were silent, making Naira feel uneasy. After some time she got sick of it and cleared her throat to break the silence. "So I guess it was you, who pulled that stunt this afternoon?" A sly smirk spread on the demon's lips as she looked at the human. "I have noooo idea what you're talking about~" Naira couldn't help but to snicker at the girl's response and shook her head with a little smirk. "Not that I minded that little show, but I wonder why you did it though. Sandy didn't do anything wrong to you…yet." Valendra snorted and turned her nose up. "Pff she will sooner or later, because I know she's that kind of person. Just one look at that pitiful human and I know exactly what she's like. But no, she didn't do anything wrong to me yet." The demon twirled her ponytail around her finger as she jumped up and down the benches they were passing by. "I had several reasons. One was because I love pulling pranks on people, especially on little bitches like her. Second was because she's been bullying you and three was because of the shitty way she treats her sister." Naira cocked up an eyebrow as she looked at her friend. Because of Wendy?
"Wait, so you did it for Wendy?" Naira rolled her eyes and looked away, getting annoyed again. "You've been suspiciously nice to her. I wonder what you're up to this time." Valendra's cheeks slightly heated up when listening to the human. "What?! Being nice? What's that supposed to mean?" Naira turned to look at the demon with a scolding look. She had enough of it, time for some interrogation. "Oh don't you play dumb with me Miss Lucefiana! You know very well what I mean." The demon girl looked away with a pout and grumbled. "No I don't…"
"Oh really?! Then how about I tell you? One, you give her candy even though you’re a selfish little brat, who shares her stuff with nobody. Two, you let her call you Val, but when I do you threaten to kick my ass. And three, you're always rude towards everybody including me, but you haven't said even one bad thing to her! Jeez you even let her eat with us even though she's Sandy's sister!" Naira narrowed her eyes in suspicion, her golden embers were practically piercing the demon's skin, making her feel slightly uneasy. "I don't know what you're scheming but knowing you it can't be anything goo-"
"It's not like that!" The demon angrily interrupted her. "Oh really? Then explain it to me!" Valendra pouted and looked away, obviously feeling uneasy. "I-it's none of your business!" Naira cocked up an eyebrow as she watched the demon's strange behaviour, she almost looked embarrassed. "Why are you blushing? It's not like I'm asking anything embarrassing aren't I-" The human's eyes widened when a sudden thought struck her. "Actually…now that I think about it, you've been blushing all day …and every time it seemed as if Wendy was the cause…don't tell me that… you like Wendy?!" Valendra looked with a scowl at the green haired girl as her cheeks turned two shades darker. "What? You're not one of those damn homophobics are you?!" Naira shook her head and defensively waved her hands in front of her chest. "No no! I have nothing against lesbians!" Suddenly a little smirk spread on the teenagers lips. "But that means I'm right, aren't I?"
Valendra grumbled and looked down at the ground, shoving her hands into her pockets. "So what if I like her? You got a problem with that?" A soft chuckle escaped the teenagers lips as she shook her head. "No not at all, Wendy looks like a nice girl…I have to admit you surprised me though. I didn't think you'd be into girls." Valendra cocked up an eyebrow as she looked at the human. "What do you mean? All demons are bi sexual you dumbass, I just prefer girls over men that's all." Naira smiled a sheepish smile as she rubbed the back of her head. "Ah, I see…" I had no idea all demons are bi-sexual!
"I guess I just never thought you'd fall for somebody." Valendra huffed and kicked a little rock, which was laying in her way. "Yeah me neither, but I guess no demon ever expects it to happen." Naira cocked up an eyebrow as she noticed the strange tone in the demon's voice. "What do you mean by that?" The purple haired girl turned to look at the human. Her surprised expression turned into a confused one and then into an annoyed one. "Jeez you really know nothing about us do you? What, didn't uncle teach you anything about demons?" Now it was Naira's turn to blush and look away in embarrassment. A deep sigh escaped Valendra's lips as she scratched the back of her neck. "Ok I'm only gonna tell you this once, so if you wanna learn something about demons then listen carefully!" After that the demon stared at the sky and calmed down, the scolding tone in her voice disappeared.
"You might think we demons have no feelings, but we do. They're just more intense than those of a human. Same goes for love. Humans fall in love all the time and their feelings are half-assed and only temporally. For demons that's different. Most demons don't ever fall in love in their long lives…but when they do it's a love that lasts for all eternity and is purer than anything in the world." Naira listened carefully and stared at the girl in amazement. "You mean demons only fall in love once in their life?" Valendra nodded her head and played with her ponytail again. "At most once yes."
"But what if you fall in love with somebody, who doesn't love you back…?" Valendra huffed as she continued staring at the sky. "It doesn't matter wetter the person loves you back or not. A demon's love is so strong that it won't be able to resist the person. Even if that person sends it away the demon will secretly follow him in order to protect their beloved one. Or the person might abuse the demon's feelings in order to get things he wants…I guess it's a sad thing. That's why we demons call love a curse and hope that it will never happen to us. No matter how hard the demon may try…those pure feelings will never go away." Naira looked down at the ground with saddened eyes. What a sad thing to hear. It must be horrible to be forever in love with somebody, who doesn't love you back.
"Do demons fall in love with other demons too? Or only with humans?"
"It might sound strange, but it's harder for us to fall in love with our own kind so most of the time it's a human." Naira bit her lip and glanced at the demon for a moment. Should I ask? I have a feeling it's a dumb question…argh, I've already asked a few today so one more won't hurt. "And do demons ever fall in love with angels?" Valendra abruptly stopped in her tracks and looked with a disgust expression at the girl. "You probably have no clue, but what you just said is taboo. Seriously, never ask that again!" The demon huffed, shook her head and continued walking. Naira, who was at first surprised by the girl's reaction, sighed and silently followed her friend. So…even demons can fall in love huh? … then what about him…? Naira glanced at the purple haired girl for a moment, wondering if she should ask her about it. It's embarrassing to ask…but I'd really like to know.
So the human decided to give it a try and cleared her throat to get the demon's attention. "How about your uncle? Has he…ever fallen in love before?" Valendra swiftly turned her head to look at the teenager, surprise and confusion was written all over her face. Then suddenly a sly smirk spread on her lips. "Why would you like to know?~" Naira rolled her  eyes and looked away, while scratching her cheek. "Just curious…" The demon girl snickered. "Oh really~ Well…it may surprise you, but the answer is yes. He IS in love with somebody…right at this very moment…" Naira's eyes widened in surprise as she looked back at the demon. "Really?!" Valendra huffed as her smirk turned into a grin. "Yes really…but I'm not telling you who though!" And without a warning the girl started to run, leaving Naira behind. Said girl blinked comically her eyes as she watched the demon run away. "Hey! Wait for me!" She yelled before running after her friend. Valendra laughed and turned her head to look at Naira. You idiot, you really don't have a clue do you…
