“Don’t eat too much now or you won’t have an appetite later.”
“Eh? But this waffle is so delicious…”

Hayden chuckled as he lovingly rubbed Naira’s back. “I know it’s good, but so is the picnic I’ve brought along.” He said as he held up the basket, to show it to her. Naira pouted as she looked down from Hayden to her waffle. “Then why do you buy me a waffle when you know I’m a small eater.” The angel smirked as he suddenly grabbed her hand, which was holding the waffle, before taking a big bite out of it. “Hey!” The girl protested as she glared at him, or at least she tried to glare. It looked more she was pouting. A low chuckle rolled over the male’s lips as he kissed her cheek. “I want to spoil you on your birthday of course, so how can I say no when you look at me with those puppy eyes.” Naira’s cheeks heated up in embarrassment as she looked down at the ground. “I-I did no such thing.” Secretly the angel rolled his eyes as he mumbled to himself with a smile. “You did…”

Today was Naira’s birthday and just like Hayden had promised was the duo on a date. Earlier they had gone for a long and nice stroll through the city and were now on their way to the park. Even though Naira knew Satan would have no time to visit her (because he was busy looking for Kada), she still was nervous and a little scared that somebody would recognise them. But I guess in these disguises people won’t recognise us that easily. Naira’s hair was tied into a cute little bun, she was wearing hipster glasses, a hat, a long pink tulle skirt, a white tank top and a jeans jacket. An unusual outfit for her, yet that made it more effective. Hayden on the other hand was wearing a long black coat, his hair was combed back and held in place by a hat and he was wearing glasses as well. Naira smiled to herself, happy that they could just walk around like this, enjoying a simple date like normal couples did. “Hayden…”

“Yes dear?”
“I love you…”

Surprised the male looked down at her. Normally Naira wasn’t so direct with her feelings, so hearing this was quite a surprise, but at the same time it made him really happy as well. Hayden smiled as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders, pulling her close to him as they walked. Of course this made Naira blush. “H-Hayden!”

“I love you too.” He whispered in her ear before kissing her cheek. A bit shy the girl looked away, which made the angel chuckle. “Now then, let’s go and picnic.”

~~~
Wendy was walking down the street, carrying a bag in her hand and humming a tune. As she looked down at the cute pink box inside her bag, she couldn’t help but to smile. I can’t wait to see Naira’s face when she opens the door and sees me. I’ll be like “Surprise! Happy birthday Naira!” and then shove the cake in her face.
What she didn’t know however was that Callisto was following the girl, nor that she had taken over Hayden’s role as her guardian angel. The albino sighed as she looked down, since she was flying high up in the sky, and shook her head. I don’t mind switching humans for a day, but lately Hayden’s been asking non-stop to switch with me…which is normal I guess since the two are a couple, but still… Another heavy sigh rolled over her lips as she ran her hand through her silver hair. You two are playing a dangerous game you know…sooner or later something will go wrong…and I’m not sure if you’ll be able to fix it… Suddenly Callisto felt a hard thump in her chest, making the angel softly gasp. What the-! Don’t tell me- Quickly she scanned the area and saw what she had feared to see. Hayden and Naira were walking down the street, holding hands…and they were walking towards Wendy. They’re walking on the other side of the street, but if Wendy sees them!
And just as the angel had feared did the blond notice the couple. Aw what a cute looking couple! That guy is so tall and handsome, he kind of reminds me of Hayden…and the girl looks rather cute, she…looks like Naira…? Wait- “Those are Hayden and Naira…” Wendy’s eyes widened as she saw her best friend walking down the street, holding hands with her crush. They looked so happy, laughing and talking, walking so close that the girl practically leaned against the angel. Even though Wendy and Hayden hardly ever talked her crush on him had never faded. In fact she tried to have as much contact with him as she could, hoping that they could get closer. Sure she had noticed that he was more distant toward her then in the beginning when she had first met him…but she never would have guessed that Naira was the reason for that… and judging by the way they were acting they had been going out for a while, meaning that they had hidden this for her all this time. Knowing this just broke her heart. Tears filled her eyes as she looked at Naira, who she had trusted and loved as if she was a sister. You knew I had a crush on him…and yet… you hooked up with him?! The tears escaped her eyes and rolled down her cheeks as she clenched her hands.
“How could you…” She whispered as she subconsciously started heading their way. The blond walked step by step, as if she was a robot while in fact she was too shocked to control her moves and body. “How could you!” The girl yelled as she crossed the street, making the couple look at her in surprise. Their eyes widened in horror when they saw who it was. “W-Wendy!” The blond looked at them with the saddest and most heartbroken look Naira had ever seen. Just seeing it and knowing she was the cause of it, just made her want to die from the guilt. “Naira-” More tears rolled down  her cheeks as she looked her friend right in the eyes and yelled. “You traitor!!!”
“Wendy look out!!!” Callisto suddenly yelled, trying to warn the girl, but it was already too late. Startled the blond turned to look at what was going on, when she was hit by a car. The three watched in horror how Wendy’s fragile body was sent flying meters away, before it crashed onto the ground. It all seemed to happen in slow motion, while it only lasted seconds. They were all frozen in place, too shocked to move or speak, when Hayden snapped out of it. “Wendy!!!” He let go of Naira’s hand and ran towards the girl. The car, which had hit Wendy, had stopped and the driver was already besides her. “I-I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to-!” Hayden roughly pushed the guy out of the way to check if the blond was okay. “She has a pulse…” He whispered to himself, before turning to look at the driver. “Call 911! Now!” The driver flinched as Hayden yelled, but did as he was told.
In the mean Naira looked horrified at what had just happened. “Wendy…Wendy!” She wanted to run over to her friend, but was stopped by Callisto. The angel had landed on the ground and had changed into her human form. “Naira! Calm down please!” She said, trying to calm the girl down, but noticed soon enough that she was freaking out. “No! Let me go! Wendy is-!! Wendy is-!!!” She screamed, struggled and cried as she looked at Wendy’s motionless body, hoping that the blond would just get up. She didn’t care if she would hate her, she could yell as much as she wanted or even hit her, she didn’t care, all she wanted was that she would get up and be okay. When she heard the sirens in the distance, she realised however that things wouldn’t be okay…
~~~

“I just can’t believe this is happening…” Naira whispered softly as she wiped her tears away. Hayden gulped, holding back his tears as he avoided any eye contact. “Yeah…” Was all he could say with a hoarse voice as he looked at Wendy. She was laying in a hospital bed, had a drip and was being intubated. The damage from the car hit was immense. Not only were several of her ribs, humerus, tibia, femur and many other bones broken, but she hit her head really hard as well. “I can’t believe she’s in a coma…” Naira whispered, trying to hold back her sobs. Hayden tried to comfort his lover by holding her hand and speaking to her gently. “Naira, this is none of our fault ok. Wendy- we…there’s no way we could’ve prevented this…”

“How can you say that! Of course it’s our fault, most of all it’s my fault!” The girl angrily exclaimed as she pulled her hand away before walking over to Wendy’s bed. “I knew she had a crush on you…and yet…and yet…” No matter how hard she tried, she could no longer hold back her sobs as she collapsed next to the bed, holding onto Wendy’s sheets for dear life. “Wendy…Wendy, I’m so sorry…I’m so sorry…” She muttered in between her sobs. Hayden was about to say something when the door slowly  opened. To the couple’s surprise they saw it was “Valendra…” The demon stood as still as a statue in the doorway. Her eyes turned as big as saucers as she stared horrified at Wendy. “No…” She whispered so quietly that you nearly couldn’t hear it. With slow and unstable steps the girl walked towards the bed. As she stood next to her crush, her whole body began to shiver. “No!” Valendra grabbed Wendy by the arms as she slightly lifted her up. “You can’t do this to me! You can’t!” Black tears rolled down the demon’s cheeks as she looked heartbroken and lost at Wendy’s face. “I first lost my mom and now you! I can’t…I can’t lose you…I-I’m lost without you…” Gently, as if the blond was made out of china, she put her back down and fell through her knees, burying her wet face in the sheets as she cried her heart out, calling Wendy’s name over and over again.
Naira in the mean time got up and looked helplessly at the tragedy in front of her. Hayden didn’t know how to react either and felt guilty, knowing that all this pain was partially caused by him, so he averted his eyes and noticed Callisto was standing in the doorway. “Calli?”

“I went to look for her…” She softly said as she looked with sad eyes at the little demon. “I don’t like her, not at all…but I know how much she loves her…so I thought she deserved to know.” The male was touched by his friend’s kindness, but thought it was inappropriate to say something about it at the moment. As Naira watched Valendra cry, she felt more guilty than ever. “Val…” She whispered gently as she walked over to her friend before placing her hand comfortingly on her shoulder. “Don’t touch me!” The demon said with a hiss as she slapped the girl’s hand away. Valendra’s blue eyes lighted up in anger as she got up from the ground and grabbed Naira by her jacket. “It’s because of you! It’s because of you and your fuckboy that she’s like this now!!!” Quickly the angels intervened, wanting to prevent the situation from escalating. “Stop it!” Hayden said as he pulled Naira out of the demon’s grip and held her protectively. Callisto in the meanwhile held the struggling demon girl back. “I hate you! I hate you both! Just go ahead and die!!!” Valendra shouted as tears rolled continuously down her cheeks. She cursed Naira and Hayden, cursed humanity and all angels and even cursed the world and life itself. Eventually her voice died away as she let herself fall through her knees and sobbed like a child. “I wish I was never born…what did I do to deserve all this pain…?”

Everybody had gone silent, not knowing what to do or what to say. Eventually Callisto crouched down next to the girl and gently stroked her hair. To the angel’s surprise did she not slap her hand away and let her be. Suddenly Callisto looked at the couple and said with a firm voice. “You two should leave. Go home…I’ll catch up with you later.” Naira opened her mouth to protest, but was silenced by Hayden, who placed his hand on her shoulder. Surprised she looked up at her lover and saw him shake his head. With slumped shoulders she looked at Valendra, who was still crying her heart out in Callisto’s chest, before looking at the comatose Wendy. Hayden noticed how the girl was frozen and gently leaded her out of the room. As the couple was walking down the long hallway, two familiar figures were heading their way. Naira’s heart skipped a beat when she saw it was Sandy, followed by her father. The two had no attention for them however and ran past by them.
As Naira waited for what she feared what was to come she held her breath, only to gulp a moment later as she heard Sandy’s heartbroken screaming and crying. They had probably arrived at Wendy’s room. More tears rolled down her cheeks as she squeezed Hayden’s hand, who comfortingly squeezed back as he leaded her down the hallway. I’m sorry Wendy…I’m sorry Valendra…I’m sorry Sandy. Neither of them spoke all the way home, they were both too much occupied by their grief…and guilt.

~~~
The waiting seemed endlessly, as Hayden and Naira were waiting for Callisto’s arrival. They were sitting silently on the couch, just embracing each other, not knowing what to say. On the table was an untouched cup of tea. Hayden had made it for his lover, hoping it would sooth her, but Naira had barely glanced at it. She was far too upset at the moment to drink some tea.
Then after what felt like eternity their friend finally arrived. Naira felt her presence before she had even seen her. Hayden noticed her to and just called her name. “Calli-“ But was interrupted by the angels low voice. “I warned you-“ Her eyes were as cold as her voice, yet she didn’t yell, which Naira honestly thought was even worse. She would have preferred for the angel to yell at them. “I WARNED you guys. I told you, you were playing a dangerous game and that something would happen sooner or later. And guess what! It did and it’s even the worst thing that could happen.” Both Hayden and Naira looked down at the ground, she was right and they knew it. Callisto wasn’t finished yet though. “Wendy is now fighting for her life, thanks to you two. You didn’t have to tell the whole world you know! But you could’ve at least told her-“ The angel sighed deeply and ran her fingers through her hair. As Naira glanced at the angel she saw her eyes were slightly red.
Was she crying?
“How is Val…?” The girl asked with a small voice, which made the angel’s head snap towards her. “Honestly, what do you think Naira. Shitty of course. The girl is heartbroken, just like her sister and father, who we left behind crying their eyes out…” Yet another sigh escaped the woman’s lips as she shook her head and leaned against the mantel piece. “What a mess…everything is a mess…”
“Where is Valendra now?” Naira asked, she knew Callisto was going to scold her, but she had to know what had happened to her friend. The angel huffed, not looking at the girl this time as she mumbled. “I send her home, there was no way she wanted to see the two of you right now.” Suddenly the angel pushed herself away from the mantel piece before looking at the couple again, more specifically at Hayden. “Valendra however is the least of our problems. They can arrive here any minute.” When hearing her guardian angel speak Naira couldn’t help but to frown. “Wait, they? Who’s they? Hayden what is she talking about?” Hayden however didn’t reply, he exchanged an intense stare with Callisto, ignoring his lover. They both knew what was going to happen, their expressions spoke a thousand unspoken words.
Suddenly a bright light appeared in the corner of the room. To Naira’s surprise the light took the shape of some sort of portal and shortly after that a few armed angels stepped inside. Naira’s eyes widened in fear as she looked at the intruders, last time some angels appeared a big fight broke up and it didn’t end well. Strangely enough they had no attention for her what so ever. They were looking at the two other angels in the room. From the moment Hayden saw them, he got up from the couch and stood protectively in front of his lover. “Lady Callisto, God gave us the order to come and fetch you.” The only woman amongst the angels spoke towards the albino, she could barely hide the disgust in her voice as she said. “I think you know well enough, why he wants to speak to you…” She then turned to look at Hayden and her nose slightly pulled up in disapproval. Naira didn’t know if that was because he stood protectively in front of her or because of something else. “You too. Oh and if you oppose us then we can kill you here and now, we’ve got our lords permission.”
Callisto and Hayden however didn’t look like they were going to protest. “There is no need for that, we will go with you.” The male turned around and kissed Naira’s forehead as he whispered ever so softly, so that only she could hear him. “While I’m gone pack your stuff.”
Confused the girl blinked her eyes as she looked at her lover with a frown. “What? Why?” She whispered back. “Because we’re gonna run away.” When hearing this Naira’s eyes widened, she said nothing however and watched how Hayden walked over to Callisto, who was looking with worried eyes at her. Despite how angry she had been earlier, she still cared deeply for the girl and wanted her to be safe. Knowing what was going to happen however, she wasn’t so sure if she could keep her safe though. Hayden glanced one more time at his lover before following the angels into the portal. Once all the angels were gone the light disappeared and Naira was all alone. She stood there, frozen for a moment, when her feet suddenly started to move. Without even thinking she just started packing some stuff and hoped that the angels would be safe.
You guys probably all hate me right now xD lol sorry, but things will get better...?
Oh poor Wendy... Dammit Naira, you should have told her .-.  My heart breaks for Valendra though, that poor poor thing. I hope Wendy survives for everyone's sake, especially her. I mean, she already lost her mother ;~; In any case, I doubt Hayden's plan will work, but I can't wait to see what happens  next OwO
